Marc Markel has been practicing law since 1979. Marc Markel is board certified in both residential and commercial real estate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and heads the firm’s Real Estate Law Section. Marc Markel is experienced in handling all aspects of real estate transactions, litigation and community association representation. Marc Markel has authored master deed restrictions for numerous large residential, commercial and mixed-use projects. Marc Markel has actively defended associations and their volunteers when they find themselves as defendants in litigation. Marc Markel frequently assists developers through their due diligence process and acquisition of title. Additionally, Marc Markel assists developers, builders and associations with litigation avoidance techniques through a thorough risk analysis program.
Marc Markel is a frequent speaker on real estate topics for various bar organizations and the Community Associations Institute. Marc Markel is a charter member of the College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL) and its only Texas member. Marc continues to be a member of the State Bar College. Marc received his 20 year membership designation. Marc Markel has received recognition from his fellow members of the Bar who selected him to Texas Monthly’s Texas’ Super Lawyers list for 2005 through 2011 as well as the National Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel List for Real Estate. Marc is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest possible peer rating.
Marc Markel received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1976. Marc Markel went on to obtain his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law in 1979 and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1979. Marc Markel is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of Texas, and all courts, trial and appellate, within the State of Texas. Marc Markel is a member of the State Bar of Texas and a member of the Houston, Bexar County, Montgomery County, Ft. Bend County and Dallas Bar Associations. Marc Markel was born in 1954.
